On 28/06/2010 Jane asked:
I am newly single after many years, and keen to experiment. I have had anal sex twice. I am keen to experiment more with future partners and when playing with myself. To get really comfort with this idea, am i better to try a butt plug or a beady stimulator!!
Advice grrl answered:

Dear Jane,

How exciting, anal sex can be very pleasurable and self discovery can really help make playing with a partner more enjoyable. A silicone buttplug is a great place to start and Jewel is the most popular in the range as it offers the extra sensation with the bumps and is a great size. Silicone is easy to clean and long lasting.

Definately use plenty of lubricant - LubeXXX is really great for anal play and compatible with silicone toys.

If you decide either now or later on that you would like a vibrating option, Billy has been designed for anal play, has a range of pulsating and vibrating modes...to give a range of sensations, as is rechargeable so has plenty of power.

If you find that you are getting muscle spasm, often occurs when larger opjects such as a penis or dildo are inserted anally, then try Innuendo as this is a natural muscle relaxant that can effectively make anal sex more comfortable.

We have some great radio shows on anal sex that you can download for free as a podcast at D.VICE Advice, good info at SEX INFO and for additional information try the Expert Guide to Anal Sex DVD ...real people having real anal sex with an instructor talking you through different positions and techniques for having really pleasurable anal sex.

Have a great time on you journey of anal self discovery.

On 19/01/2010 Sean asked:
Hello
I am in Wellington. Do you no longer stock anal beads? Also, what is a good butt plug that can be worn for extended periods? I would like options for females and males (both with moderate anal experience) Finally, will you ever stock the Aneros range of toys?
Advice grrl answered:

Hi Sean,

It's great to see your interest in a variety of anal pleasure toys! When it comes to anal beads we have the lovely Bendbeads by Fun Factory, which have five graduated balls, and a great handle to hold onto as well. It's made entirely out of silicone, so it's very hygienic, not to mention smooth.

To wear a buttplug for an extended period of time - more than an hour or so - you will want to make sure that the material it's made out of has some give. That means silicone rather than glass or hard plastic! If you're likely to be sitting, you'll also want one with a flaired base that sits comfortably between your cheeks, rather than poking out. To that end, the silicone Buttplugs that we make outselves: Pendant, Darling, Jewel, Gem and Pearl are the most likely to work for extended periods.

We did stock Aneros products when they first came out, but customer feedback told us that the Nexus range of toys was much preferred. When it comes to prostate stimulation, they have the advantage of not only massaging your prostate, aka the Male G-spot, but also vibrating if you wish them to! Check out the Excel, Neo, and the Titus for more information about how they can work for you (and don't forget to read the customer feedback at the bottom of each page).

If you want to find out more about giving your prostate a work-out, have a listen to our D.VICE Advice radio show from 13/09/08, which talks all about it!

Finally, don't forget to always use extensive lubrication when inserting your anal toys - we recommend LubeXXX in particular. Being a combination-silicone lubricant, it works brilliantly for anal use (as it doesn't dry out), but neither does it destroy your silicone toys. It's slick, slippery, and just adds to the fun.

On 9/12/2009 Fistroy asked:
Hi there

I was introduced to anal fisting my my ex partner and now it is my preferred way to get off. am now single but in the meantime I would like to know if there are any "fist"/arm sized or fist shaped toys available in New Zealand... do you know where they can be bought and does Dvice intend to make them at some point? Ideally, I'd like a whole female arm made of latex.
Advice grrl answered:

Hi Fistroy,

Anal play is a lot of fun - and anal fisting, when done right, can be fantastic. I'm delighted you enjoy it so much! While we don't have any toys quite as large as you're asking for - and no plans to make any that size - we do recommend the Sire dildo. Our largest dildo, it's 20cm long and 5.5 cm wide, with a flared base so you don't have to worry about losing it! The Sire is made of 100% silicone, so it's non-porous and sterilisable. And it comes with a 10 year guarantee, and in a whole range of colours.

Make sure that with the Sire - or with any toy - you use lots of lubricant! Water-based lubes are always safe with silicone toys, and the silicone/water combination LubeXXX is also tested and safe to use with our products.

On 11/09/2009 robyn69 asked:
Hello,
I am a male. My female partner seems to be fascinated with my rear end. Whilst i have in the past not been at all interested in having my rear passage fondled... i have lately become aroused by the idea. So have thought to see if my partners interest extends beyond touching my rear passage.

Have tried to put my finger up there when in the shower and get used to the idea of something being inserted in my rear. Surprised how tight the passage is, but quite like the feeling. Feels a little odd after i have finished, but hope that i get used to it. Plan to buy and use a plug from time to time and see how i go with that. The hope is that i can get used to the feeling and introduce anal to our play.
Is there a double dildo that my partner could insert one end in her and the other end a suitable dildo to penetrate me? The ultimate aim would be for my partner to get vaginal stimulation whilst penetrating me.
I dont consider myself gay and have never done anal with anyone, so no previous experience. Do you think this new desire to have my tail used by my GF means i have gay tendencies?

Do you think i am on the right track to getting my tail used to anal play?
Am i taking my partners interest in my rear too far?

Any other ideas gratefully received :)
Advice grrl answered:

Dear R69, you have a lot of good questions. The anal passage for both women and men has many sensitive nerve endings that just love to be stimulated, once you get more practised you may like to discover the male G-Spot, that is massaging the prostate through the anal wall, and if you try any of the great prostate massagers (designed to wear both whilst making love and when playing alone) you can achieve mindblowing orgasms as the prostate and perineum are stimulated.

Many men of all sexual persuasions enjoy anal sex and anal sex will definately not make you gay. It can been a wonderfully intimate experience for your female partner to give as well as receive penetration.

I definately recommend using lubricant at all times for anal play as the membrane is quite delicate and not self lubricating, LubeXXX is the best. We ususally have Innuendo, an anal muscle relaxant if you find that you are having an issue with comfortable anal play. If it is not showing on the website you can email info@dvice.co.nz and we will let you know when it is back in stock.

A butt plug is a great place to start, something small and flexible and we recommend silicone as it is long lasting and easy to clean. Jewel or Bootie are great for beginners and when you are ready to move to more prostate stimulation check out the G Rider or in fact any of the Nexus range.

We are keenly awaiting the arrival of a new double dildo, the Share XS (smaller than the current Share and Share XL, and believe me you will want smaller than those two if you are a beginner. The Share XS is due mid-late September 2009 so take a look back after say the 19th or 20th and use the word search for Share XS. The Share is has a bulb held vaginally for the woman and a dildo for partner penetration. If the bulb is too challenging, your lady can wear a strap-on harness to hold it in place.

The Share might be something to invest in a little further down the track when you are confident you enjoy anal penetration and you and your partner have had some pleasurable experiences. Some excellent resources are the D.VICE Advice Radio Shows, you can download them as a podcast or just listen via your computer (for free). A great "How To" DVD is the Expert Guide to Anal Sex, which has real people having real sex and an instructor commentating and helping them have a great time (R18).

Hope this answers your questions. Have a great time exploring and definately on the right track if you want more and more sexual pleasure.

On 10/07/2009 bum fun asked:
I am a guy new to anal sex and looking for something to start with for myself. Can I use a women's vibrator such as a "Rabbit" and what would be a good toy to start with?
Advice grrl answered:

Dear Bum Fun

Toys for anal play must be designed for that purpose to be safe and suitable for anal stimulation. The Rabbit styles are not suitable as they have no flared base and if material tore the internal workings could potentially be pulled into the lower intestine by the powerful sphincter muscles.

There are a great range of anal stimulators and vibrators for men For Men- most pleasurable Prostate and perineum massagers offer men mind blowing orgasms. The prostate is often called the male G-Spot. The most popular do not actually vibrate (Nexus), although there are vibrating options (Rude boy range). They are designed by men for men, are made with long lasting easy clean materials (medical grade plastic or silicone) and we have great customer feedback about them. This range is frequently updated so you can either get one style or add to your collection. They are a little pricey and well worth every cent as they give specific stimulation to the command centre's of pleasure for men. You can use them for solo and partner play.

Depending on your experience, you can choose a smaller (beginners) or larger size.

If you are looking for something more general we recommend silicone buttplugs as a great place to start, it is often good to have non vibrating and vibrating anal toys. A good quality anal vibrator, also made from silicone is well worth having as well.

All anal toys MUST have a flared base to prevent the muscles from pulling the toy into the anus. Silicone is non porous, easy clean and long lasting.

Always use a lubricant for anal play, we recommend LubeXXX, superb for anal play. And if you need a bit of help to relax, try Innuendo, a natural muscle relaxant for anal play.

Take a look at Sex Info for more info about anal sex or tune into D.VICE Advice radio show all about pleasurable anal sex. The Expert Guide to Anal Sex DVD is a truly hot and has real people having real anal sex under instruction from a trained sex trainer!

On 13/03/2009 J asked:
My partner and I participate in anal sex. He enjoys it a lot, as do I, however there are times when it is very painful for me. He is quite large and even though I feel relaxed, I am often not relaxed and experience pain and sometimes bleeding. Is there something I can use or do to help my ass relax? The times it has, sex has been mind blowing.
Advice grrl answered:

Dear J.

Thanks for your question. anal sex is just that little bit more technically difficult than vaginal sex and the rewards can be, well as you say, mind blowing. For starters are you using a lot of lubricant? This can be very effective to prevent tearing. I totally recommend LubeXXX which is a silicone AND waterbased lubricant and is amazing for anal play. It is a bit more expensive for the intitial outlay, $69.99 for a 300ml bottle, this will last for ages and one you have tried it you are unlikely to use anything else. to help with muscle relaxation, Innuendo is a natural and effective product that both relaxes and conditions the muscles around the anus and is very effective for more comfortable anal play. Innuendo is applied a few minutes before penetration, and also seems to prevent any after pain...I call it back burn...that sometimes comes when air is forced into the anus.

I know it can be hard in all the excitement, but if you can get your partner to slow down the penetration, massage around the outside before penetration this can allow the muscles time to relax. the LubeXXX and Innuendo can mean that you can start a lot more quickly.

For some really good tips and tricks for pleasurable anal sex we have recently got a higly recommended DVD, The Expert Guide to Anal Sex which features real people having real sex. It is hot as well as instructional and I really learned a lot from it. If you are more of a reader there is the Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex, there is a male and female version, they are both fairly similar so either will do. Either the DVD or book give you that extra information that can enhance your anal sex experience and ensure that pain and tearing is greatly reduced.

On 25/01/2009 jak asked:
i was wondering were i can get extra large buttplugs from the bigger the better for me thanks
Advice grrl answered:

Dear jak

D.VICE manufactures a fabulous range of silicone butt plugs of all shapes and sizes. For beginners and seasoned players alike. I'm unsure as to whether you mean bigger in width or length, but luckily we have both options covered. Our Pearl buttplug is designed for those who prefer a 'fuller' feeling so is therefore wider than most other plugs.

If you want to add a little extra excitement to your anal pleasuring the Fanny Hills buttplug could be just what you are looking for. It has multi-speed vibration for delicious anal stimulation as well as being inflatable to almost TWICE it's original size. Do take care when pumping it up though, if you don't do this evenly you will end up with a very mis-shapen butt plug.

For a real cool sensation why not consider a classy glass option? If you want to try something with a real twist, check out Scrudy.Remember to always us a good lubricant like Probe which comes in a light or thick rich formula or Lubexxx which is perfect for anal penetration. For more fun, safe anal play, always keep plenty of condoms handy!

On 24/09/2008 AA asked:
My boyfriend is really into anal, but whenever we try it, it really hurts and makes me feel sick. We talked about it, he knows that I don't like it and is really respectful of that. However i really want to be able to have anal with him because I know how much it would me to him. How can we make it easier/ better for me to cope with it?
Advice grrl answered:

Hi AA,

You probably know the saying "All good things take time"? Well, that goes for good anal sex too!

Our Anal Sex information on the Sex Info tab on our website has a lot of information about how to successfully introduce anal play into your relationship. Additionally, our D.VICE Advice radio show on Anal Play also contains a lot of useful tips.

Have you been using lubricant? It's totally essential for enjoying anal sex, as the anal area is not self-lubricating. Lubexxx is ideal for anal play, as it does not dry out.

If you are experiencing discomfort or pain during penetration, this is usually caused by the muscles going into spasm. Either pause before continuing or stop and try again. You may wish to try with a small buttplug or finger before attempting with the penis. Condoms are essential for safe sex and are an easy way to keep your body and toys clean.

There is a very good muscle relaxant (all natural) called Innuendo. You massage a small amount around the anus before penetration. This allows the muscles to relax and prevents spasm. It also prevents any after pain. Once you become more accustomed to anal penetration and find you can control the muscle spasm you may not need to use it. I do recommend Innuendo when starting out, as well as lubricant.

Jewel is our most popular style of buttplug with its undulating shape bringing pleasure to many. D.VICE dildos and buttplugs can be easily cleaned and have no sharp edges.

Keeping the lines of communication open and clear will enhance all aspects of not just your sex life, but other parts of your life too.

On 5/02/2008 nipple lover asked:
when or ever going to get in more of your slide nipple clamps the missy finds the other clamps to hard on her nipples
answered:
Dear nipple lover

Unfortunately we have not stocked the Tweezer style of nipple clamps for sometime and are having difficulty finding a supplier for these. However I would recommend trying out our Deluxe Adjustable Nipple Clamps which have proved to be our best selling model. You can still release the tension of the clamp by tightening the screw slightly or when you feel like you want to increase the tension you can unscrew the entire screw from the clamp.
These are currently not in stock on the website but if you phone the 0800SEXTOYS our staff may be able to track down a pair for you in stock at a D.VICE shop.
If you love nipple stimulation you may like to try the Nipple Shields. These are very popular and provide enahnced nipple sensation when worn during sex play!
On 25/12/2007 Tom asked:
My wife and I have tried anal a few times, mainly because I am keen to do it, the first couple of times she said it hurt, and the last couple of times she said she actually was starting to find it pleasurable, but was still somewhat uncomfortable like she wanted to poo me out! she actually initiated anal the last 2 times- but now I just can't get her to do it again- unfortuately I really want to take her there again because we were just staritng to get the hang of it. Any ideas or suggestions? She is a little worried doing anal might stretch her too much there- ???
Advice grrl answered:
Dear Tom

You probably know the saying "All good things take time"? Well, that goes for good anal sex too!

You can have a read of the Anal Sex information on the Sex Info tab on our website and have a listen to our D.VICE Advice radio show on the 25th of August as well.

If it is more information you are looking for, we have some great reading material too. The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women will provide you both with some in-depth information on all aspects of anal eroticism and health, from building trust and communicating your desires, to helpful tips on safety, preparation and hygiene.

We also offer Innuendo, which is an anal conditioning gel designed to enhance the sensation of anal pleasure for both women and men. It relaxes and conditions the anal muscles and should be used in conjunction with a good lubricant like Probe Silky Light. Have you been using lubrication at all? It is totally essential for enjoying anal sex.

Assure your wife that anal sex will not 'stretch' her anal muscles at all, in fact, like other muscles, the more you work them the stronger they become. Just remember to use good techniques and practice safely.

If your wife is experiencing discomfort or pain during penetration, this is usually caused by the muscles going into spasm. Either pause before continuing or stop and try again. You may wish to try with a small buttplug or finger before attempting with the penis. Condoms and latex gloves are essential for safe sex and are an easy way to keep your body and toys clean.

On 6/12/2007 uncut4smooth asked:
i have anal sex and would like to know if it is ok to have an orgasam inside while partisipating.
Advice grrl answered:
Dear uncut4smooth

I'm guessing by your nom-de-plume that you might be male?
Whether male or female.... yes, it's definitely ok to orgasm during anal sex.

But I wonder if what you are actually asking is: it ok to ejaculate in the anus during anal sex?

Male ejaculation and orgasm are two separate events and I'm thinking you may be curious to know what happens when your ejaculate enters the anal canal. Some of it is absorbed while the majority will spill out over a period of time.
As with vaginal intercourse, unprotected anal intercourse is high risk for many different sexually transmitted diseases including HIV. Using Durex condoms during anal sex, decreases the risk of any infection.
On 26/10/2007 nicky asked:
My boyfriend and i have just started trying anal sex my question is he likes to ejaculate inside my anus is this safe? i am his only sexual partner so we do not use condoms
Advice grrl answered:
Dear nicky

If a male ejaculates while having anal intercourse, some of that ejaculate is absorbed otherwise the majority of it will spill out, maybe over a period of time.
Like vaginal intercourse, unprotected anal intercourse is high risk for many sexually transmitted diseases including HIV. Using condoms during anal sex decreases the risk of any infection.
While condoms work well most of the time, they are more likely to break during anal sex, so use a good lubricant like Probe or Lubexxx to reduce the chances of breakage and of course, using one of these lubricants will enhance the whole experience.
We also have a fantastic product called Innuendo which is designed to help relax the anal muscles for more pleasuable penetration.
The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women (please keep an eye on our website for this book, we are expecting more in stock very soon!) has some excellent pointers and is very informative. You can also learn more about anal sex by reading the Sex Info section or listening to the D.VICE Advice Radio Show on anal play.
It's really important that as well as practicing safe sex you ensure that anal play is pleasuable for you as the receptive person too...

Plan to play safely!
On 22/10/2007 LADY asked:
WHY DO FECES COME OUT WHEN IM HAVING ANAL SEX?
Advice grrl answered:
Dear LADY

It pays to ensure your bowel and bladder are empty by going to the toilet before anal penetration. Some people like to douche prior to anal activity, but it is not totally necessary. As long as the anus is cleaned externally and you usually have regular bowel motions,it should be fine, because the bowel usually totally empties when we have a bowel movement.

Have a read of the Anal Sex information under the Sex Info tab on our home page. Here you can read about anal health and hygiene.

If you have a male partner and he has hygiene concerns, it is best that he wear a condom during penetration.
On 5/10/2007 sexygayboy asked:
i am a gay lad who really likes to have anal sex,but when i dont have anyone to play with and as i dont have any sex toys is there anything around the house that i could use a butplug or even a penis plug
Advice grrl answered:
Dear sexygayboy

There is loads of fun to be had even without a partner to play with, but we definitely wouldn't recommend using any household objects as sex toys because that isn't what they were designed for.

Well designed anal toys should not have any sharp edges and should also have either a flared base or be shaped in a way that will allow a part of the toy to remain outside of the body and not get lost in the anal canal. If you are wanting some great solo anal play I would suggest you check out the popular men's g-spot toys, Nexus Glide or if you are wanting something a wee bit more substantial, the Nexus Excel is a good choice. Our newest G Spot toy for guys is the Rude Boy and this is proving to be very popular! It is made of 100% silicone and vibrates. Check out the reviews on this product.

Of course a good lubricant like Probe or Lubexxx is essential for anal pleasure and for use with all sex toys.
If you are keen to have a penis shaped toy to use, then you can't go past our fantastic silicone dildos! The Boss is a popular choice and quite substantial, but if you think you might like something even more challenging, then the Sire is the boy for you. Both these guys can be hand held or strapped on in one of our harnesses. An alternative to our popular jockey style harnesses that you could use alone is the Garter, which is designed to be strapped to a persons thigh, stomach or back, and for you even to a chair!
And of course we make some amazing silicone butt plugs. Gem and Pearl are designed to be hand held. If you want a toy with that typical rippling butt plug shape that can be either hand held or strapped on then Sweetie and Darling are two great toys to choose from.

All of these toys can come out and play with or without a partner!

We have some useful written information in the Sex Info section of our website, or if listening is more your thing you can tune in to our podcast. We have dedicated the show on the 25th of August to Anal Play & Pleasure.
On 17/09/2007 thefox1952 asked:
I am looking to get penetrated for the first time, and the male that is going to do it is fairly large. Should I just let him take control or should I prepare myself to take him. Is there a lubricant that numbs this area.
Advice grrl answered:
Dear thefox1952

You haven't said whether you are male or female, but reading between the lines, I am going to assume that you are male and it is anal penetration we are talking about here.

Full anal penetration is not something that can be done in a hurry (whether you are male or female)and there are some golden rules to take heed of.

Firstly, any acts of a sexual nature, should be between consenting adult people. Particularly as you are to be the 'penetrated' make sure that the other person is someone that you really trust, someone who will know to stop if you want them to. You both should discuss this prior and decide on a safe word to use should you wish to stop at any time.

The anal area is not self lubricating, so lubricant is a definite must. Lubexxx is a great all round silicone/water combination lubricant with a smooth silky feel to it. If you think you would prefer more substantial lubrication, Probe Thick Rich can provide that for you. We also have a product called Innuendo, which is a natural herbal gel product, used prior to and during anal intercourse, it will help relax the anal muscles, it should be used in conjunction with lubricant. It is safe to use with condoms too, and don't forget to practice safer sex and have those condoms handy. Innuendo is not currently on our website, but if you ring our toll free number, 0800 SEX TOYS, we will be able to track one down for you at one of retail shops.

As I'm not aware of when this 'event' will take place, hopefully you will have time to read up a bit more on anal sex and health before hand. A good place to start is the Anal Sex section of our Sex Info. Also when you click on the D.VICE ADVICE tab on our home page, if you look to the right of that page you will notice we now have lots of good advice 'on air' - the show that played on the 25th August talks about anal sex, it's very good, so I would recommend that you have a good listen to it. We have a fantastic book called The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Men. It's a step by step guide to all things anal for all men.

Things should be taken very slowly with anal penetration and you both need to allow plenty of time to achieve full penetration. A good place to start is to use a finger. The hands should be clean with nice short, smooth finger nails. Using latex gloves can nicely take care of most of this, and used in conjunction with a good lubricant can feel divine.

You may like to use a butt plug prior to penile penetration. We have some great silicone butt plugs, Jewel and Gem have that typical undulating shape of lots of anal toys and Pearl is great should you wish to go for a more substantial 'full' sensation. It is a must to use a lubricant with these too.

Being fully aroused and using good toys and technique will help you to accommodate full penetration of a penis.
