On 15/05/2009 G asked:
How exactly do two women use a double-ended dildo? It doesn't look like you could have much body contact or anything to thrust against.
Advice grrl answered:

Hello G, you are quite right, a traditional double ender is tricky to use and becomes a slippery snake once lubricant is applied, that is why we don't sell them. We do have a great system that easily joins 2 silicone dildos together and gives you a handy holder with which to thrust and direct the dildos. This clever device is called the Tryst. this allso means that you can use the 2 dildos separately for handheld or strap on play.
The other great option for double style dildo action, either with or without a harness are the Share/Feeldoe double dildos, which allow both partners to be connected during thrusting and penetration with the one dildo. These are most easily worn in a harness, and can in some positions be used without a harness, it's a good pelvic floor work out!

On 13/05/2009 curious asked:
might sound silly but is okay to wear your smart balls when you have your peorid
Advice grrl answered:

Hi Curious and thanks for your question. The Smartballs ar eperfectly safe to wear while you have your period as they wont absorb any body fluids. this will be fine if you are using sanitary pads. However during this time you may find that the vagina is rather sensitive and it is not as comfortable to wear them. If you use tampons you will not be able to wear the balls and the tampon comfortably. So you might find it an easier option to wait until after your period is finished.

On 11/05/2009 Rouge asked:
My boyfriend and I are considering engaging in bloodplay. Do you have any advice for how to go about this safely and responsibly while still allowing it to be an enjoyable experience?
Advice grrl answered:

Hi Rouge,
Thanks for your question. The best place to start experimenting with drawing blood would be via play piercing. This is done with special needles, placed under the skin, drawing blood when removed. Please note: Bloodplay is considered a high-risk activty. If you are thinkiing about playing this way with your partner, the best thing for you both to do first is to learn from an experienced player and get yourself educated.
You can make connections online fetlife.com is a great place to start, as it can be anonomyus, and you can start making connections in your local area.
A good reference giude for all things kinky is  Sensuous Magic by Patrick Califia. It covers a lot of ground and is fantastic for newcomers and experieced players alike and deals with safe paly.

On 1/05/2009 duck asked:
How safe would it be licking the anal area.I have wanted to do this to my wife. But dont want to do if it is unsafe.d
Advice grrl answered:

Hi Duck, anal rimming is safe provided you use some basic hygenic practises. I recommend using latex dams to cover the area, they are a little tricky but ensure that there is no skin contact whilst maintaining sensation. The main issue here is bateria which you do not want to come in to contact with. Put a little lube on one side of the dam where it comes into contact with the body and then lick away. If you are going to go further with anal penetration with fingers then I suggest you use latex gloves.

If you use anal toys then silicone or glass toys are the most sensational and easiest to clean. To find out a whole lot more on anal pleasures there are some great resources DVD's and books and you can tune in to D.VICE Advice or check out Sex Info

On 29/04/2009 jojo asked:
Hi. I am having a problem with a smelly vagina. I have regular smear checks which are normal, I have only had sex once this year with my husband of 5 years, to my knowledge I have no STD's
Its embarassing as I can smell it and only get one day out of a pair of pants before they need to be washed as the crutch stinks.
I have tried all types of knickers, use panty liners and still no luck.
Advice grrl answered:

Dear JoJo. It may be that you need to change your diet as there is a good likelihood that your body is reacting to a food product that is causing the reaction. I recommend visiting a natropath who can help you with testing for allergies and also to help you to some dietary tests. The PH of the vagina is relatively easily upset and can cause discharge, discomfort and smells.

Just be upront with them as this is not an uncommon issue.

I suggest getting an STD test first to rule out that possibility as many STD's do affect odour and discharge, ie Trich. Check out this female friendly website. Checkups  are free from your sexual health clinic.

Just to add to that, some women find when their pelvic floor muscles are weak, that they leak a little bit of urine, which can produce an odour as well. In this case using SmartBalls to tone your pelvic floor muscles (use a hypo-allergenic lubricant) can eliminate this issue.

However I would still recommend the STD check and the natropath as the first things to do.

On 25/04/2009 Palmy girl asked:
i love d.vice and my boyfriend loves the things i bring home... but he's to embarrassed to come shopping with me i don't understand it but i don't know how to get him to come with me and be a bit more adventurous any advice???
much love dvice
Advice grrl answered:

Dear Palmy Girl

Some people are very shy about sex and sex toys and it may be you cannot do anything about that until he is ready. If he is willing to use the toys you bring home then maybe you could browse online or via the catalogue with him, or failing that decide what you want and ask him to contirbute to the purchase!

On 18/04/2009 sb asked:
Is there any hope for more realistic coloured dildos?
Advice grrl answered:

Dear SB, as we are not able to supply the full spectrum of skin colours we decided to go for a more colourful approach. So no plans at this stage.

On 7/04/2009 a asked:
hi
i am male and married.
i wanted to if you can suggest me a product to shave my genital area which is safe and hygienic. currently is trim my private area but wont to have the great feeling of no hair.

thanks

Advice grrl answered:

Hi a
The feeling of hairlessens can be very sexy. You can either wax or shave, a good product for a tidy shave is the body shaver set. This si a dry shave using talcum powder rather than soap and water. The shaver set has a shaver for coarse long hair and a smooth shaver for finishing. The result is not quite as good as a razor shave or wax but offers a good result.

On 6/04/2009 Lea asked:
Hi,
My boyfriend and I originally used durex (pre-lubed) condoms, but stopped using condoms all together when I went on the pill. Whilst we were still using condoms it became necessary to sometimes use additional lube. Now, without condoms, we always have to. We use Durex Play, because it is cheapest. We are in a long distance relationship, and I find that I am able to produce plenty of natural lubricant after a few weeks without sex. Is it possible that my vaginal dryness is caused by the brand of lubricant, and if so, might you recommend another reasonably priced brand?
Advice grrl answered:

Hello Lea

Many things can affect your natural lubrication including medication, where you are in your monthly cycle, how aroused you are when you make love and your individual make up. Lubricant is always a good option. The cheaper brands are just that. Cheap. I recommend you spend a little more money as you will find the lubricant is more effective, lasts longer and you will need to use less. Probe Silky Light is our top performing lubricant and you use approximately 30% less than a regualr lubricant. the 250ml bottl e is good value at $27.99 and will last several months. Alternatively you could try LubeXXX a silicone/waterbased lubricant that is long lasting and economical. We do not always have all the sizes but keep your eye out as stock is always arriving.

Another product that many women finds really brings on their natural lubrication is Purr Clitoral Arousal Gel, this is massaged into the clitoris and is like foreplay in a gel form. Not an alternative to lube instead a great orgasm enhancer.

On 6/04/2009 Sarah asked:
I would like to try anal stimulation with my boyfriend but every time I suggest it he freaks out. Any suggestions on how I can change his mind?
Advice grrl answered:

Hi Sarah
There are a lot of taboos around anal sex and your boyfriend's response is not unusual. I am not clear from your question as to whether you want your boyfriend to try anal sex on your or if you want to play with him anally. Either way I can recmmend if you are in to watching sex DVD's we have a hot instructional DVD The Expert Guide to Anal Sex, real people having real anal sex with an instructor talking them through a great way to see how much pleasure can be had.
There is also D.VICE ADVICE Radio Shows which can be downloaded as a podcast and talk about sensational anal play, if you thought he might sit down and listen.
Maybe you could talk with him about what you want when you are not actually having sex and tell him why you want to indulge in anal play and what you want from him.
There are a fantastic range of safe and sensational sex toys for anal play, lubricant is essential.

On 6/04/2009 sam asked:
I have bought my wife vibrators but she doesn't like using them. How would you suggest I get my wife interested in toys.I think the problem with the vibrators may have been they were to big
Advice grrl answered:

Hello Sam

The size and shape of a vibrator can be off putting to many women, noise and what the vibrator is designed to do can also put her off. There are some new styles of vibrators that are quiet, elegant and very stimulating that she may find more appealing. Many women prefer clitoral stimulatin from vibrators rather than internal penetration, so perhaps giving her the gift of a compact clitoral vibrator, along with some lubricant and Purr clitoral arousal gel, might be appealing to her.

Is she open to talking about sex toys? If she is asking her what she might enjoy and perhaps showing her the syles available online or taking her into a D.VICE store if you have one in your city might be a good idea.

If she is not so keen to talk then try the gift idea. The Lelo range are gorgeous and we have many women who have never used a vibrator before falling in love with them.

On 6/04/2009 sam asked:
I have bought purr gel.Can I use lube on and around the clit before applying purr. Also can I lick my wife before applying purr gel.
Advice grrl answered:

Hello Sam

Purr Gel is fine to get in the mouth and yes you can use lubricant in combination with the Purr Gel. Many men also enjoy the sensation of Purr Gel on the penis and both men and women can use it on the nipples. Have fun!

On 31/03/2009 babe asked:

On 14/03/2009 lilmissworried asked:
Hi there, I have a bit of a problem that worries me, and i am too embarrassed to ask my doctor about it. About a year ago I decided to try swallowing after I give my boyfriend a blow job...the first few times was fine...but the last say...8 months after I swallow, the next day I end up getting a throat infection. This has happened with my last two boyfriends, I went to a clinic to get checked in case I had caught an STD or STI and nothing was found....I went to my doctors and she said it was tonsillitis...but I only get it after I have done this. This has happened with both my last boyfriend (we were together for about 8 months and didn't start happening till the last month or two) and with my current one of 6 months..I was hoping someone could shed some light on what is happening.
Thanks.
Advice grrl answered:

Dear lilmissworried

Well that is an interesting question. It could be that you are have become little a little allergic to something in either the semen or the sperm, and or that you have a low level throat condition which is aggravated by the semen/sperm. This could be due to something your boyfiend eats or drinks or may just be something that has built up over time. Very difficult to tell.
I recommend contacting a sexual health clinic as they have a lot of experience with a wide range of issues and can best help you with this one.

On 13/03/2009 J asked:
My partner and I participate in anal sex. He enjoys it a lot, as do I, however there are times when it is very painful for me. He is quite large and even though I feel relaxed, I am often not relaxed and experience pain and sometimes bleeding. Is there something I can use or do to help my ass relax? The times it has, sex has been mind blowing.
Advice grrl answered:

Dear J.

Thanks for your question. anal sex is just that little bit more technically difficult than vaginal sex and the rewards can be, well as you say, mind blowing. For starters are you using a lot of lubricant? This can be very effective to prevent tearing. I totally recommend LubeXXX which is a silicone AND waterbased lubricant and is amazing for anal play. It is a bit more expensive for the intitial outlay, $69.99 for a 300ml bottle, this will last for ages and one you have tried it you are unlikely to use anything else. to help with muscle relaxation, Innuendo is a natural and effective product that both relaxes and conditions the muscles around the anus and is very effective for more comfortable anal play. Innuendo is applied a few minutes before penetration, and also seems to prevent any after pain...I call it back burn...that sometimes comes when air is forced into the anus.

I know it can be hard in all the excitement, but if you can get your partner to slow down the penetration, massage around the outside before penetration this can allow the muscles time to relax. the LubeXXX and Innuendo can mean that you can start a lot more quickly.

For some really good tips and tricks for pleasurable anal sex we have recently got a higly recommended DVD, The Expert Guide to Anal Sex which features real people having real sex. It is hot as well as instructional and I really learned a lot from it. If you are more of a reader there is the Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex, there is a male and female version, they are both fairly similar so either will do. Either the DVD or book give you that extra information that can enhance your anal sex experience and ensure that pain and tearing is greatly reduced.
