Hi Alice,
When you have strong pelvic floor muscles, one of the many advantages is that you can tense them during intercourse. This can assist in reaching your own orgasm, and additionally gives your partner a bit of an extra squeeze as well!
The best way to strengthen your pelvic floor is to use a product to tone those muscles. If you're just starting out to strengthen them, then the Smartball Uno is the way to go. All you have to do is pop them inside and the Smartballs and your body will do the rest! Smartballs have weights inside them which move as you do - each time they move your pelvic floor muscles tense, which helps to make them stronger.
Once you've mastered the Uno, it's time to move on to double balls - either the Smartball Originals, or the Duo. You can still use that Uno though - keep it for when you're exercising, swimming, or generally being active.
Definitely get yourself some lubricant to assist in easy insertion. If your genital area is generally sensitive, Yes Lube is organic and glycerin-free, so it's very kind to yourself and to your Smartballs. Don't forget to put a little lube on the string of your Smartballs as well, to keep things comfortable.
Keeping your pelvic floor strong has the added benefits of keeping your entire genital area toned - you won't accidentally wet your knickers when you sneeze; they're recommended by midwives for use prior and post-pregnancy, and they're generally excellent for keeping your healthy and strong. Who could ask for more?
Hi Alice,
Pain and pleasure can definitely be combined in a lot of fun ways when it comes to sex - but it is important to make sure you do so safely! It's vital that you and your partner communicate prior to play, as well as during, and that you both have an awareness of what each partner finds arousing - and what is a no-no. Consent is essential, as is trust. It's also important that the person on the receiving end has a safe-word, which can be used if needed.
There are BDSM support groups in most cities, as well as munches where you can get to know other people and exchange ideas and advice. A google search should turn up something near you.
Sensuous Magic is an excellent beginners guide to S/M for couples, and has not only a lot of how-to, but also some very hot stories! Additionally, we also have two great books of erotica, depending on who's on top: Yes Ma'am, and Yes Sir.
While toys aren't essential for BDSM any more than they are for sex itself, the addition of them can add a lot. Be sure to check out our range of bondage gear: blindfolds, wrist restraints, collars, and, of course, our whips, crops and spankers!
Don't forget to check out our D.Vice Advice Radio Shows - you may find 08/03/08 and 18/08/07 particularly useful, as they have spanking tips.
Be safe, and have fun!
Hi Rose,
It's great that you want to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles - the Uno is definitely great for that, but it sounds like you need to gently stretch your vagina before you'll be able to successfully use it.
Women with vaginismis (a condition where the vaginal muscles go into involuntarty spasm, meaning they're unable to insert anything), have similar challenges. We're recommended using a slim silicone toy such as the Pendant or Jewel. While these are designed as buttplugs, they are perfectly safe to use vaginally. Being slimmer than most dildos, this means they should be easier to insert. Once you're comfortable inserting these, you can size up to one of the smaller dildos such as the Sweetie or Siren.
Lubricant is absolutely vital, of course, and we recommend a nice thick one such as Yes or Probe Thick Rich.
It may also be helpful to give yourself (or have your partner help you with) perineal massage This is often recommended by homebirth midwives for preparation prior to birth, as it helps relax the vaginal entrance. If you google this, you will find good information and diagrams. Using Vitamin E unscented oil for this massage will definitely be helpful, and beneficial especially with scar tissue.
Don't forget to check out the D.VICE Advice radio show - the 25/10/09 show discusses vaginismus in more detail, and may give you some useful ideas.
I was born with a birth condition which prevented me from developing 'normal' adult sized, or even functional, arms. I type with my mouth using a specialized keyboard.
I have been in a loving lesbian relationship now with another differently abled woman for several years now. What we want to know is, has Dvice considered making products for the differently abled market?
My partner and I definitely see a market for a good chin dildo!
(i.e, we'd like to switch places now and again!)
thanks
Hello Wheelchair Superstars!
While we have designed and continue to manufacture many of our own products, we haven't developed any new ones for quite some time - and currently have no plans for doing so in future (we have been focused in different directions). Given the population size of New Zealand, there isn't a lot of desire for products specifically designed for the differently abled market - but we do have a number of products that work well with disabilities.
The Garter harness is a great multi-functional harness - although we don't recommend trying it on your face due to its width. This can be strapped to the thigh (like a garter), but also to a stomach or back, or to a chair or bedhead instead. It's large enough to fit any size body, and around larger pieces of furniture as well. It is available in Neoprene, Vinyl and Leather, so you can pick the material most comfortable for you.
The We Vibe is also a great toy, designed to stimulate the clitoris and g-spot of the wearer. Ideal for use with a dildo, you can provide pressure by sliding the toy against the vibrator.
Don't forget there are also the Share dildos - these can be worn by one partner without a harness, and used to penetrate the other. It's not your chin, but it's a start!
We will be keeping the idea of a chin dildo in mind - so thank you for suggesting it to us!
Hi Rick,
Thank you for your enquiry! We do indeed ship to the US (and to other countries). Our delivery page gives more information about the costs. When you place an order with us we automatically calculate the shipping cost and remove the GST.

We will be updating our mailing list page in the near future so that international locations are available to choose.
Thanks for shopping with D.VICE!
I was introduced to anal fisting my my ex partner and now it is my preferred way to get off. am now single but in the meantime I would like to know if there are any "fist"/arm sized or fist shaped toys available in New Zealand... do you know where they can be bought and does Dvice intend to make them at some point? Ideally, I'd like a whole female arm made of latex.
Hi Fistroy,
Anal play is a lot of fun - and anal fisting, when done right, can be fantastic. I'm delighted you enjoy it so much! While we don't have any toys quite as large as you're asking for - and no plans to make any that size - we do recommend the Sire dildo. Our largest dildo, it's 20cm long and 5.5 cm wide, with a flared base so you don't have to worry about losing it! The Sire is made of 100% silicone, so it's non-porous and sterilisable. And it comes with a 10 year guarantee, and in a whole range of colours.
Make sure that with the Sire - or with any toy - you use lots of lubricant! Water-based lubes are always safe with silicone toys, and the silicone/water combination LubeXXX is also tested and safe to use with our products.
Hi curious,
Both the Mini Corsar and the Little Paul are part of the Fun Factory range of mini vibrators, and these are excellent as a first vibrator. Made of 100% silicone, they are non-porous, sterilisable, splash-proof and phthlate-free. And they are lovely to look at, hold, and to use! The mini vibe range is all the same size, although each vibrator is shaped slightly differently.
There is also the new BiMiNi Flash and Ocean available. These are also mini vibrators that also have a clitoral stimulator, and they use a magnetic charger - so you never need to worry about your batteries going flat!
Part of the reason that these mini vibes make such an excellent vibrator is because they can be used multiple ways. They all have a bend at the head, which can be used externally on erogenous zones such as clitoris or nipples. The toy can be used to penetrate (with the vibrations and pulsations on, or without them), and that same bend at the tip can also be used to stimulate the g-spot.
We definitely recommend using lubricant with our vibrators, as they help with penetration and make it all a lot of slippery fun!
Be sure to check out our D.VICE Advice Radio show for more information - particularly the 27/02/10 show, which discussed the Fun Factory mini vibes.
iv recently i purchased some duoballs to improve my muscles that little bit more. only problem is that i find theyre not as rigid as the originals (which ive been using for about two yrs now) and tend to be a little harder to insert (even with a little lube). the other thing i noticed is that the cord is elasticated? i find that even when i relax my muscles to pull them out the cord tends to stretch ALOT when i pull, even if i hold the cord closer to the base. is this intended? im a little worried that the cord may snap when i pull them out next time?
Dear Princess
The reason the Duo Smartballs are not as rigid as the Original Smartballs is that they are coated in a high quality silicone which is a more flexible material. The original Smartballs are coated in a material called elastomer which is slightly more rigid. The increased flexibility is designed to make the Duo Smartballs comfortable to wear given the extra weight. In terms of inserting them make sure you use a good amount of lubricant such as Probe. Apply lube onto the balls and use the insertion indentation (at the base of the lower ball) to push to balls into your vagina. Relax your miscles as you insert and apply pressure to the lower ball to push them both inside. It's fantastic you have used the Original Smartballs for 2 years so you'll have great pelvic floor tone. Perhaps it will take a while to get used to the Duo Smartballs and the difference when inserting them.
In regards to the string, it is also made from silicone and does have quite a lot of stretch. I suggest when removing the balls you actually contract your pelvic floor muscles to help push the balls out, at the same time as pulling on the string. This may take a bit of practice to isolate the muscles around the vaginal opening but once you have mastered it, removing the Duo Smartballs will be much easier. Have a go using this technique. We'd be interested to hear your feedback as to if this is helpful in removing the Duo Smartballs...
Enjoy your inner workout!
Dear Michelle
Thanks so much for your question. The Smartballs are able to be used by women who have undergone hysterectomy once you are fully healed internally. You do not need to have a cervix or uterus in order to use the Smartballs. The Smartballs are designed to be inserted vaginally and sit comfortably on your PC muscle (pelvic fllor muscle. This muscle is attached to the pubic bone in the front and the cocyx bone at the base of the spine. The muscle sits like a platform and whilst it does hold up the base of the uterus it also supports the muscles of the vagina and anus. The PC muscle is also located in a figure 8 formation around both the vaginal and anal openings. Often after hysetrectomy women do experinece issues associated with weakening of the pelvic floor muscles. In order to keep this inner area toned and lifted and to prevent any incontinence regular use of Smartballs is definatley reccomended. I suggest you begin with the Smartball Uno whihc is the single ball. This is lihgter than the double balls of the Smartballs original and therefore easier to hold in. Once you can comfortably wear the Uno I would reccomend you move onto the Smartballs original to fully achieve optimum pelvic floor tone. Many women chose to keep using the Smartball Uno for wearing during exercise such as walking or yoga.
Ensure you use a waterbased lubricant such as Probe to allow for easy insertion of the Smartball Uno and wear on a daily basis for 6-8 weeks initially. Start off weraing the Uno around home for a couple of hours until you can comfortably wear it all day (6-8 hours). You will begin to notice a change in your muscle tone and can then wear the Smartballs a couple of days a week for maintenance.
If you find the Smartball Uno difficult to hold in do perservere. It's well worth the effort and a very importnat part of your healing process...
Enjoy your innner workout!
Hi princess,
It's fantastic that your friend is willing to try different things, including strapping on a dildo. Here are some other options that may work really well for you both:
Cockrings are definitely effective in helping erections last longer - and they're also a lot of fun to play and experiment with! Cockrings are designed to sit in one of three places: at the base of the penis; in behind the penis and balls; or cupping the balls themselves. In this way they reduce the blood-flow out of the penis (keeping it erect), as well as making it harder for them to orgasm - their sperm has to make its way past the ring before he can come.
We have non-vibrating cockrings and vibrating cockrings, made from a variety of materials. They are all adjustable, which is important when it comes to getting one that fits properly. Lubricant is also helpful in slipping it on, so make sure you have some on hand. Cockrings can also sit over a condom, which is great in helping keep the condom in place!
If your friend is really concerned about his size, he could look into trying a penis pump - it will increase his size somewhat (although not-unrealistically), and may help him to feel better about his penis, too!
Be sure to check out the D.VICE Advice Radio Show - the 21/03/10 show discusses boys toys, including cock rings and pumps, so it's well worth a listen.
Hi horney,
It sounds like there are two things at work here - your boyfriend's age, and his decision to stop drinking. Taking longer to orgasm definitely isn't a bad thing, provided he gets there in the end!
If he's having a challenging time getting aroused, we recommend trying something like the EDoil or Escalator.
If the issue is simply the time it takes for him to orgasm, there are some options here too. One is to include vibrating couples toys in your play - the Naughty Bunny and the We Vibe are both excellent for this, and provide stimulation for you both.
Alternatively, you could look into prostate stimulation, which many men find extremely pleasurable. Ticking the prostate and massaging the perineum can both lead to very strong orgasms, and are a lot of fun to experiment with as well! Try any of the Nexus range of prostate stimulators or the Lelo Bob - and don't forget to go slow and use plenty of lubricant!
If you're wanting to research more, be sure to check out the Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Men, The Expert Guide to Anal Sex DVD - and, of course, the D.VICE Advice Radio Show! You may find the 21/03/10 and 08/08/09 shows particularly useful.
Best of luck to you both!
And we're also thinking that it can be used for some water play.
Many many thanks!
Hi Curious,
It's great to hear you're using lubricant regularly - it definitely makes a difference to a great sex life! Were you aware that is water-based lubes like Probe, you're able to revive them by applying water or saliva? This means if they do dry out while you're playing, it's very easy to bring it back to slippery life, without having to apply more. It’s also an excellent way to make your bottle last longer!
LubeXXX, the silicone-and-water-based lube you mentioned, lasts a lot longer due to the silicone, and shouldn't be drying out while you're utilising it. It would recommend applying somewhat more to begin with, so you have plenty to be playing with. LubeXXX is also excellent for play underwater, as it doesn't wash away.
We at D.VICE made a choice to not carry any oil-based lubricants, because they are incompatible with condoms and dental dams (the oil dissolves the latex, and they are no longer safe to use). While there are oil-based lubricants on the market, they're generally aimed for male masturbation. The oil can disrupt the internal health of the vagina in addition to everything else, so we definitely do not recommend using it.
Have you considered the possibility that you may not be physically aroused enough before penetration takes place (sometimes the body doesn’t keep up with the brain)? On the off-chance that this is what’s happening, engaging in more activity prior to penetration can assist with this. Work on getting some more clitoral stimulation – using Purr Gel is great here – getting out the Nea or the Ina, or getting some lovely cunnilingus (there’s a great DVD about this) are all ways to get turned on. If you take your time with this, it gives your body a chance to get aroused and your own natural lube to go with artificial.
Additionally, you may find that different positions can reduce chafing. Ride ‘Em Cowgirl, a book all about sexual positions, is an excellent resource.
You may also want to look at what you can do to increase your own natural lubrication. Some women don’t produce a much natural lubricant until after their first orgasm. Options to increase this can be a)checking hormones are in balance (visiting a natural practitioner or holistic GP can help here), and b) noting whether you are taking contraceptives (they can impact your lubricating capabilities). Tribulis often recommended to enhance natural lubrication in this situation.
Stick with your water-based / silicone lubricants - and have fun playing together!
whenever I have sex with my boyfriend he sweats excessively, especially when he's about to cum. I know some sweat is normal but theres always so much dripping all over me. I find that sometimes i don't want to have sex because of this or avoid certain positions (where the sweat drips all over my face). i love him and I don't know what to do. Do you know of anything that might help?
thanx
Hi zoe,
This is one situation where reading Ride 'Em Cowgirl - a guide to sexual positions - will definitely come in handy! The best way to avoid having his sweat dripping on you is to be on top of him, and there are various ways you can do this that will feel great for you both.
Keeping a towel or flannel nearby is also useful. Using it to wipe him down will probably make him feel better as well. And why not also utilise the Touche Ice Silicone Vibrator? Running the deliciously cold toy across his skin will cool him down and rev him up at the same time!
You can also take advantage of your connection and position with your boyfriend. The Naughty Bunny and the We Vibe each feel amazing when you're on top, and you both get the benefit of the vibrations.
Be sure to check out the D.VICE Advice Radio Show, especially the 29/05/10 episode, where Ema explains how the Touche Vibrator works.
And good luck!
Hi happy pussy,
Yes, we definitely recommend SmartBalls to anyone with a vagina! Keeping your pelvic floor toned and strong is important whether you've had children or not - by strengthening it you're improving the health of your entire pelvic area. This has some great advantages - no need to worry about a weak bladder, and you can grip harder during sex and orgasms as well.
You may want to start with the SmartBall Uno, which is a single ball. If you're having no problems wearing that all day every day for three weeks (minimum) , then definitely size up to the Originals.
SmartBalls feel great to wear - especially walking up the stairs - and can easily be worn all day no matter what you're doing. Off to the supermarket, gym, or just around the block, they do your exercise for you, make you feel virtuous, and definitely help you to feel the benefits!
Check out the D.VICE Advice radio show from 15/05/10, as Ema discusses strengthening your pelvic floor, and why it's worth it.
and currently have a very basic boring vibrator - what do you recommend would be a good one to go to next.
Dear Curios
The SmartBalls are an excellent choice for improving pelvic floor tone.
I recommend reading the SEX INFO article on SmartBalls as it covers all you need to know about SmartBalls styles and and the why and how of using them. I have popped in a quick reference from this page below.
- SmartBalls Uno are suitable for women who have very compromised P.C. muscles, or who find the double set of SmartBalls to difficult to hold in, they are a good starting point for getting your muscles in shape.
- SmartBalls Original are the ideal weight and many women will only use these over the years, if you started with the Uno Balls these are the next step in getting your P.C. muscles in peak shape.
- SmartBalls Duo are for the woman who already has good pelvic floor tone and is up for the challenge of these heavier balls, we would recommend these for women who do regular pilates or Yoga or who have already got in shape with the SmartBalls Original.
As for a good vibrator to move on to, well it depends on your budget, I would recommend spening a little more and getting something skin firendly and long lasting.
If price is not object I would recommend the Gigi rechargeable vibrator. Fanstastic for clitoral, G-Spot and internal play, quiet, discreet, powerful and GORGEOUS.
If price is an issue, head for the Laya Spot for clitoral vibration or The Stubby for all round stimulation. Both of these are on special for October 09 so there is still time to get one.
